Understand the UP Farmer Registry before you register
An independent, first-hand guide to the AgriStack Farmer Registry — written from a real registration, with the actual screens at every step so nothing catches you by surprise.
Read the step-by-step guideThe UP Farmer Registry (upfr.agristack.gov.in) is the official portal where farmers in Uttar Pradesh create a Farmer ID under the Government of India's AgriStack initiative. This site doesn't run that portal — it explains the process clearly, so you know what each screen asks for before you sit down to do it.
What the Farmer Registry actually is
AgriStack is the Government of India's digital backbone for agriculture, and the Farmer Registry is its core piece: a verified database that gives every enrolled farmer a unique Farmer ID. That ID becomes a single digital identity you can use across schemes — instead of proving who you are separately at every department, your verified record travels with you. In Uttar Pradesh, enrolment happens through the state portal at upfr.agristack.gov.in, built on the same AgriStack framework used by other states.
The registration links three things: your Aadhaar (for identity), your land record from Bhulekh (for landholding), and your mobile number (for verification and updates). Once those are connected and you e-Sign, the system generates your Farmer ID and Enrolment ID.
Where people get stuck
Most farmers who struggle do so at one of three points, and all three are avoidable once you know they're coming:
- Aadhaar–mobile linking. Every verification step sends an OTP to the mobile linked to your Aadhaar. If that link is missing, nothing proceeds. Fix it first.
- The land-fetch step. The portal pulls your land record live from Bhulekh — you don't upload papers. The Khasra (plot) number has to match the record exactly, or it pulls the wrong owners.
- The e-Sign redirect. You're sent to a separate government gateway (CDAC) that looks different from the portal. That's normal; closing it cancels the signature.
